TIMING AND ROUNDS
Exact date for the start of the draft and the time allowed for picks will be posted by the Commissioner.
The draft will contain six rounds of drafting.
The order of the summer draft is determined by reversing the overall final regular season standings of the previous year. The amateur draft is not a snake draft. The team with the worst winning percentage will have the first pick in EACH round and the team with the best winning percentage will have the 20th and last pick in EACH round. The tiebreakers used in "SCHEDULE, PLAYOFFS AND TIEBREAKERS" to rank tied teams for the playoffs will also be used to rank tied teams for the amateur draft.
The first year of the amateur draft (2007) will be a snake draft based on the reverse of the initial draft order.
PLAYERS ELIGIBLE
An owner may only pick a player in our summer draft that has been drafted in the immediately preceding real-life amateur draft as long as he is not already on a team's roster.
Prospects selected who played any college ball or any other organized baseball after high school (such as independent leagues, foreign leagues, etc.) will receive a 6 year contract.
Prospects selected who played only high school ball will receive a 9 year contract. In additon any high school prospects who have reached the age of 20 before June 1 (of the year of the draft) would receive the 6 yr contract not the 9 year.
FREE AGENCY OF UN-DRAFTED PLAYERS
Players drafted in previous real-life drafts who were not taken in our summer draft, may not be claimed or bid on until they have signed with a major league team.
Players in the real-life draft that are claimed after the conclusion of our draft receive only the standard minor league contract of 4 years (7 if declared a premier). This keeps our annual summer draft special.
If an owner waives a player taken in our summer draft, who has not signed with a team or has returned to college, the player may not be claimed or bid on. The player will become available when he signs with a major league team or is drafted in a subsequent real-life amateur draft. In the latter case he awaits being drafted in our draft.
TRADING AMATEUR DRAFT PICKS
The rights to amateur picks may not be traded until January 1 of the previous year. The rights to 2008 picks may not be traded until January 1. 2007, 2009 picks may not be traded until January 1, 2008, etc.
