Perhaps we could defer this issue until later in the draft when (if) it becomes apparent that we need to speed things up.

I think the specifcations need to be set before the draft starts in regards to doubling picks if it is going to happen. It could change some strategy for drafting

I'm engaged in a draft now with 16 teams. We've been drafting for a month now and are just about finished the 14th round. HOWEVER, we have 16 hours to make a pick which IMO is much too long a time period. I would prefer to see us reduce the required picking time rather than doubling picks simply because between 1 set of picks and the next, an average total (this will be more or less depending on your draft rank) of 30 players will be selected. That's an awful lot of players. My strong preference would be to operate with the 12 hour limit (or 8 hours with a dead time) and then reduce that as appropriate, if the need to excelerate the draft proves necessary necessary. I'm guessing that with a 12 hour limit we can get at least 15 rounds completed before Xmas and that once we pass the 25-30 round point, there will be few objections to reducing the draft time. Just my $0.02 worth

There are 9 votes for doubling up picks at some point in the draft.... which means there will be doubling up as the majority rules.
If it is agreeable to everyone.... we can just start the double picks after the 20th round (for compromise between 16 and 24).
I understand everyone's points here, but we need to get these specifications set.
In regards to shortening the time between picks later in the draft.... that can be discussed if we are having an issue with absent teams, but please remember that you can leave a pick with a commissioner at any time if you know you will not be around
