If I were to put a claim on a recently waived player, would the salary and years remain the same?

Yes, salary and years remain the same. You can wait for free agency and bid on him unless someone puts in a waiver claim.

Sorry, but I've got another question (new owner here still learning the ropes). If a player is waived an no claims are made, the player becomes a free agent, right? For example...
Player A's salary: $4,000,000/2 Years
Player A is waved, and after 72 hours no waiver claims have been used. Does he know become a free agent? Could another owner start the bidding at a lower salary, say $300,000?
Again, thanks in advance for the help.

He becomes a free agent after 72 hours. The opening bid can be $300,000 when free agency bidding begins. That will be after the new owner draft at a time specified by the commissioner.

So any player not claimed via waivers during the season can't be signed until free agency of the following year?

So any player not claimed via waivers during the season can't be signed until free agency of the following year? No, the only reason we can't bid on waived players right now is becasue free agency is not open. Once free agnecy is open you can bid on any player. Waived players, once they pass waivers, can be bid on during the season.
